Home Construction Step by Step 1. Prepare the construction site and foundation
Before a builder lays a shovel on the ground, the local government must approve the design and make the septic system, housing, electrical work, and plumbing permits for everything from zoning and grading. Once the licenses are acquired, physical construction can begin.
Often, the task of building the site and the foundation is left to the same force, but not in the wooded lot. Fiberglass and mineral-wool bats and rolls are usually installed in side walls, attics, floors, crawl spaces, cathedral ceilings, and basements. Manufacturers always attach faces such as kraft paper or foil-kraft paper to act as a vapor barrier and/or air barrier. In areas where insulation will be left open, such as basement walls, bats sometimes have a specific flame-resistant face.

The drywall is hung and taped so that the seams between the boards are not visible and the drywall texture is complete. A primer coat of paint is also applied after the tapping is complete. Contractors began installing exterior finishes such as brick, stucco, stone, and siding.

Your builder will guide you through your new home to familiarize you with the features and operation of various systems and components, and to explain your responsibilities for servicing and maintenance, as well as warranty coverage and procedures.
